ANTECEDENCE and SUPERIMPOSITION
"Mixed bedrock high and
non-bedrock high gravels conformably deposited atop
exclusively non-bedrock high gravels downstream of the bedrock
high"
This criterion is currently hypothetical, has not been successfully modeled, and a natural example has not been found. The idea is that the arrival of gravels derived from the rising or exposed bedrock high should suddenly appear in the sedimentological record downstream along the transverse drainage. The image looks southwest from Hurricane Canyon (an antecedent transverse gorge). Through detailed sedimentological analysis, evidence of this criterion might be found downstream.
